Music & Passion - Las Vegas Hilton - April 30, 2008

It was a great show. I thought it was a very appreciative audience for a Wednesday night in Vegas. Plenty of standing ovations and cheers. Not wild - but certainly responsive.

I thought Barry's voice sounded great. And he looked wonderful (well, doesn't he always?). He had to stop to blow his nose again. This time he turned around and asked how many people had seen his show before. Then he asked, "How many of you have seen me blow my nose before?" LOL Then he jokingly said that you would think they could have found an antibiotic to take care of that by now.

For me, the most impressive song of the night was Moonlight Serenade. He sang it in a much softer tone of voice than he usually does - there were times it was just barely above a whisper. Made it sound very romantic, very tender. Nice touch.

Looks Like We Made It is still sexy. Come to think of it, that song was pretty impressive, too. Barry's "moves" were met with much appreciation from the audience. If he does that song on Friday when I'm sitting front and center, oh my...

The ballad was I Made It Through the Rain. That one remains a fan favorite, I think because it always seems to evoke such an emotional response out of Barry. And I think it touches the civilians, too.

Barry did acknowledge his UK fans. It sounds like he's going to give them very special shows on Friday and Saturday.

The lava lamp joke was especially funny because of Barry's timing. It was just perfect. When the audience laughed loudly, he said, "Yeah, Britain's here."

At one point Barry made mention that he had all of these security guards down front in case someone wanted to hop up on stage and "jump his bones". That got a laugh out of everyone. Then he said, "That never happens!" (uhmmm, does the thought count, Barry??)

New York City Rhythm also seems to remain a favorite. I love hearing what each of the guys comes up with during his time to solo. It amazes me. That ability is far beyond me.

Speaking of piano playing, I was sitting at an angle where I could watch Barry play the piano last night. Okay, I do prefer being in the center of the audience because my favorite fellow is right in there in front of me for most of the night. But I also enjoy being over on the left side occasionally because I love to watch him play the piano. New York City Rhythm was especially good last night - his hands are as expressive playing the piano as his voice is singing the songs.

Barry also threw in the Mayflower segment (the shortened version that he's been doing lately). Kye really hit those high notes this time.

Looks like my favorite white jacket has been replaced for Mandy/CIBM. He didn't wear it last time I was here, either. (I was just kidding, Barry - I'm not really going to steal it!) The one he's wearing is beautiful, but hard to describe. The material looks very interesting - the lighting kind of makes it look like leather, but it doesn't seem to be as heavy as leather.
