Barry seemed to be in a good mood tonight. The audience was very into it - there were times when
Barry seemed to pause to just soak it in.
The funniest moment was during the 50's segment when Barry was hamming it up - he did a little
Elvis leg shake. Very funny. The backups have added an extra little scream during Love Is A
Many Splendored Thing.
For the ballads segment, Barry mentioned that it was coming up on the New Year and he had written
a song with Marty Panzer. As he introduced it, he mentioned that some people feel very lonely
at New Year - and then he decided he would only sing a little bit of the song. The song was
It's Just Another New Year's Eve, of course. It's a beautiful song, but also one that tends
to make me cry almost every time I hear it - I guess I'm one of those people that hates New
Year's Eve. So I wasn't really disappointed that he didn't do the entire song - I was sinking
fast! Still, it's not fair to Barry, Marty or the song to ignore how beautiful it is.
After that Barry sang Even Now - beautiful performance. Of course, that one can also be a
little depressing if you're in the proper mood. So combine that with the preceding song, and
I needed a good anti-depressant! LOL
Poor Barry - he got distracted during I Write the Songs and messed up the words. The expression
on his face was priceless.
One thing for sure, one show just isn't enough. And six weeks until Dallas. PMD is in full force!
